This is the parable of\u00a0<strong>rebirth<\/strong>\u00a0that has the\u00a0<strong>Famiglia Febo<\/strong>\u00a0winery in Spoltore as its protagonist.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Davide Febo<\/strong>, supported by his family, is the heart and driving force behind the renewal project of the family business, which began over sixty years ago. His grandfather Febo had been a farmer, like his ancestors for generations. In the mid-1960s, he decided to convert his small farm: he planted the first 2,000 square meters of vineyard with\u00a0<strong>Montepulciano<\/strong>\u00a0grapes, and from 1964\u201365 he began producing wine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The small winery grew in a time when bottling was not yet considered, and the clientele was exclusively local.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">But change was moving fast, and business began to travel north through the sale of bulk wine. In Chieti, the other grandfather was a livestock farmer and milkman. Some photographs show him delivering milk door to door, a hard job that strengthened the core of the family holdings. As the years went by, he converted his land from pasture to vineyard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">It was in\u00a0<strong>2018<\/strong>, with the first bottling, that the\u00a0<strong>Famiglia Feb<\/strong>o winery was officially born.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Davide, with a background in corporate law, planned his return to the family with the intention of relaunching the family business. The\u00a0<strong>passing<\/strong>\u00a0of the torch is a courageous sprout, born from latent buds that bloom only after particular events. The vineyards continue to bloom every year respecting the promise made two generations before in 1964 when the first vineyard was planted with Montepulciano.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Today the vineyard covers seven hectares planted among the hills of <strong>Spoltore<\/strong> and <strong>Chieti<\/strong>, the conversion of vineyards to bio vineyards started in 2018 in respect of the environment. Montepulciano and Trebbiano vineyards and one hectare of Pecorino and Passerina planted in rows are the heart of the <strong>small winery<\/strong> <strong>in Spoltore<\/strong> which has been built in close harmony with its surrounding environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">The whole family do their best to preserve the best of the past. Old original equipment are perfectly preserved and functioning and they are a beautiful evidence of profound respect of those who preceded them. In the winery there are eleven cement barrels, four of which are very big and unique: they are red and white which is an original and unusual color scheme for that time ensuring a surprising visual effect. The grapes have their stalks removed and are crushed and pressed. We use wine-presses with rollers to achieve a smooth pressing in order to preserve the full flavour of the grape. For <strong>Cerasuolo<\/strong> and <strong>Trebbiano<\/strong>, skins are separated from the must quickly. The must ferments spontaneously into cement and steel barrels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Temperature during <strong>fermentation<\/strong> is not monitored. <strong>Montepulciano<\/strong> grapes ferment with the skins in barrels of cement and steel: the duration depends on the yearly weather conditions. Once the fermentation is finished, the wines are aged in barrels before being bottled. Wine stabilisation occurs naturally thanks to the coolness of the winery.
